Tamrind — Privacy Policy

Tamrind is a private journaling app. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches and where it lives.

What stays on your device

Your journal entries, moods, photos, AI reflection conversations, summaries, and insights are stored only in your device's local storage. They are never sent to or stored on our servers, and we cannot read them.

What our server does handle

• Sign-in. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email/password, our server verifies your identity and issues a session token. For email/password sign-in, we store your email and a securely hashed password. For Google/Apple sign-in, we store your email and name as provided by Google/Apple, only for the purpose of authenticating you.
• AI reflections. When you use the reflection feature, the journal text and mood you're actively working on is sent to our server, which forwards it to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a reflective question or summary. This text is not stored by our server after the response is returned.

Data retention

• Journal content (entries, moods, photos, AI reflection conversations, summaries, insights) is never received by our servers, so we retain none of it. It stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, or until you delete an entry yourself.
• Account data (email, securely hashed password, and, for Google/Apple sign-in, your name) is retained on our server only for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account deletes this data immediately and permanently.
• Session tokens are retained until you sign out or delete your account, whichever comes first.
• AI reflection text sent to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a response is processed in memory only and discarded immediately after the response is returned. We do not store it, not even temporarily on disk.

What we don't do

We don't run analytics or ad tracking, sell or share your data with third parties, or use your journal content for any purpose beyond generating the reflection you asked for in the moment.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. This removes your sign-in record and password (if applicable) from our server, and clears all locally stored journal data from your device.
